President's Message
From left to right: Pollock Pines-Camino Rotary's 2024-2025 President Jamil "Jim" Maroun, and Rotary International President 2023-2024, Gordon R. McInally

I believe in doing the right thing and making this a better world for all. For me, being a Rotarian is a way to live in alignment with my core values, beliefs, and vision of who I am. I’m joined by over 1.4 million other Rotarians, spread worldwide, doing their part to do what is right and make this a better world for all.

Closer to home, we have the Cameron Park Rotary Club, the Placerville Rotary Club, and the Georgetown Rotary Club. Of the four clubs in the area, the Pollock Pines-Camino Rotary Club is the smallest, currently having eight members. Our unofficial motto is We’re small but mighty. I’m going to add that we have heart. Our club membership fluctuates typically between 15 and 22 members; as membership has dwindled, the remaining members, who have heart, have kept our small but mighty club viable.

As a past club president (2016 / 2017), I know from experience the satisfaction of listening to junior high students explain their transformation after attending a Rotary leadership camp or students explain how our Interact clubs have given them confidence, leadership skills, and new friendships. In addition, our annual scholarships have helped select high school students to pursue their college or vocational dreams. It is a blessing to be a member of an organization that helps children grow and pursue their academic dreams.

I’m also grateful for our club members, who have diverse experiences, backgrounds, and beliefs but are willing to set aside differences to focus on solving community problems, enhancing the community, and making Pollock Pines and Camino better for all. Our club members are the epitome of putting service above self.

During my term, I will actively seek out new community members who are looking for a way to improve our communities. I know you’re out there. I know you have vision, passion, and a desire to make this a better world. I encourage you to join the Pollock Pines-Camino Rotary Club and bring your vision, passion, and enthusiasm. Together, we’ll leverage the Magic of Rotary and make Pollock Pines and Camino better communities for all.

If you're interested in becoming a Rotarian, please give me a call at (530) 206-0052 or email ppcrotary@gmail.com.

Yours In Rotary,

Jamil "Jim" Maroun
